What's new in the latest release of FrontSupport & FrontSupportWeb? 

 

This page outlines the new features/fixes that have been added to latest release of FrontSupport & FrontSupportWeb.

 

 

FrontSupport  3.0.1301 (Aug 29 2003)

New features

Custom Fields: In the issue detail window, you will now see an "Custom Fields" tab where you can use the fields to track your own data for each issue.
Field Labels:  For each field in the issue screen, you can now change the field label for that field. See the "Field Labels" tab in the "File | Administration | Administrative Setup..." dialog.
Email Templates: Now when you do "File | Send Mail...", you can format the email based on templates. See the "Templates" tab in the "File | Administration | Administrative Setup..." dialog.

FrontSupport 3.0.1200 (Mar 22 2003)

New features

Document Attachments: In the issue detail window, you will now see an "Attachments" tab where you can attach documents, websites, url's, images etc. that relate to that issue.
Builtin Filters:  In addition to custom filters, now FrontSupport comes with a predefined filters like "Show issues opened this quarter" .
Window positions are saved: Now when you close and restart FrontSupport, the windows positions of different windows are restored from the previous session.
Advanced Search: The "Advanced Search" button allows you to search the FrontSupport database using a search engine style interface.
Updated Tour: The product tour in the "Help | Product Tour" command has been updated with the new screens etc. 
Improved Performance: FrontSupport now loads the data faster than before.

 

Bug Fixes

A bug has been fixed for the phone dialer feature so that FrontSupport now uses an external dialing software when necessary.
Miscellaneous bugs have been fixed.

FrontSupport 3.0.950 (Apr 4 2002)

New features

Export to Outlook Task: With this feature, you can now export the issue information as an outlook task. Use the "File | Export to MS Outlook | Export to Outlook Task..." menu command.
Analytic Reports:  Now FrontSupport allows you to create interactive pivot charts in Excel. With these charts you can analyze your support data by interactively changing the report parameters within MS Excel. Use the "Tools | Reports & Charts..." menu command.
Better International Support: Now when you run FrontSupport on PC's with international locales, FrontSupport can display foreign characters properly.
Explicit Relink for Contact Databases: Often times you need to physically move the GM or ACT contact databases from one server to another server. When you do this, you can relink the FrontSupport database to the moved contact database location. Use the "..." button in the login dialog that launches the "Manage FrontSupport Databases" dialog. In this dialog, use the "Relink" button.
Support for Long Filenames: With the ACT database contained long filenames, in the previous versions, FrontSupport asked you to rename the database with a shorter filename. Now with the new version, FrontSupport is capable of handling the long filenames.
Improved Performance: FrontSupport now loads the data faster than before.

 

Bug Fixes

Improved Error Reporting with Reports: In certain situations, FrontSupport would crash when launching reports. Now FrontSupport reports the error properly instead of crashing when launching reports.
Export to Excel - support for Excel 97: Now FrontSupport works well with Excel 97 when using the "Export to Excel" command.

 

FrontSupport 3.0.915 (Nov 08 2001)

New features

Backup Command: With this feature, you can now backup your FrontSupport database to a compressed ZIP file. Use the "File | Administration | Backup..." menu command.
Reports Module:  Now FrontSupport contains an integrated reports module that will allow you to create and view custom reports. Use the "Tools | Reports & Charts..." menu command.
Run SQL Command: Now you can directly use the powerful SQL statements to update and make administrative changes to your backend FrontSupport database. Use the "File | Administration | Run SQL Command..." menu command.

 

 

FrontSupport 3.0.900 (Oct 03 2001)

New features

Export to Excel: With this feature, you can now export all the issue and contact information that you see in FrontSupport into MS Excel. Use the "File | Export to Excel..." command.
Export to Intuit QuickBooks:  If you use the Time & Billing information module in FrontSupport to track the time spent on working on an issue, you can now use this information to create a invoice file (.IIF file) that you can directly import into Intuit QuickBooks. This feature makes it easy for you to invoice your customers for the services that you provide.
Improved International Support: Now FrontSupport detects the locale information from your PC to better handle the date formats, currency symbols etc.

 

FrontSupportWeb 3.0.900 (Oct 03 2001)

New features

Attach contacts to Issues: Previously, the FrontSupportWeb's web based interface allowed you to attach issues to contacts but not vice-a-versa. Now with the new release, you can attach existing contacts to an issue as well as attach existing issues to a contact record.

 

Bug Fixes

Until the previous release, in some cases, FrontSupportWeb would show an error message "Contact record not found" when opening the details of certain contacts. This problem has now been fixed and the contact details are shown properly.
